More than twice as fast and infinitely smoother, the Raspberry Pi 5 features the Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core Arm Cortex A76 processor @ 2.4GHz, making it up to three times faster than the previous generation. With RAM variants up to 8GB, this is the fastest, smoothest Raspberry Pi experience yet. Built using the RP1 I/O controller, it offers USB 3 for faster transfer speeds, interchangeable camera and DSI display connectors, and PCI express support for connecting an M.2 SSD. The Raspberry Pi AI Camera, Camera Module 3, and AI Kit provide impressive vision AI applications and neural network models, while the M.2 HAT+ enables connection to M.2 peripherals for fast data transfer.

My first experience with the Raspberry Pi 5 was marred by a rough delivery—literally. The Amazon driver threw the package at my front door so hard that it bounced multiple times. Despite the rough handling, the Pi was in one piece and worked after minor adjustments. It has become the central brain of my home setup, running 24/7 with absolute consistency. The boost in power is worth it, but it may require additional cooling. While it's a good mini PC for developers, some may prefer other options for price and performance.
